MedMaru Editorial Policy

Our Editorial Purpose

MedMaru provides clear, accessible, and evidence-based educational information about the brain, nervous system, human anatomy, and related medical topics.

Our content is intended for general education. It does not replace professional medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment.

How Articles Are Developed

MedMaru articles are developed through a structured editorial process:

  1. A topic and its intended scope are defined.
  2. Established textbooks, peer-reviewed research, academic institutions, and trusted medical sources are reviewed.
  3. The article is written in language appropriate for general readers.
  4. Key scientific and medical claims are checked against the cited sources.
  5. Selected articles are reviewed by a qualified healthcare professional.
  6. Articles are corrected or updated when important evidence changes.

Source Selection

We prioritize:

  • Established neuroscience and medical textbooks
  • Peer-reviewed review articles and original research
  • Clinical practice guidelines
  • Government and public health organizations
  • Academic medical centers and professional societies

Commercial websites, unsourced summaries, and promotional materials are not used as primary evidence for medical claims.

Medical Review

Articles marked “Medically reviewed” have been reviewed for medical accuracy, terminology, balance, and appropriate interpretation of the available evidence.

Medical review does not mean that the reviewer is the original researcher or a specialist in every subject discussed. The reviewer’s qualifications and role are disclosed on the reviewer profile page.

Corrections and Updates

MedMaru may update an article when:

  • New evidence materially changes the scientific understanding
  • A factual or terminology error is identified
  • A source becomes outdated or unavailable
  • Additional context is needed to prevent misunderstanding

Material corrections are reflected in the article’s review or update date.

Artificial Intelligence and Editorial Oversight

Digital and artificial intelligence tools may be used to support research organization, drafting, language editing, or content structure. All published medical and neuroscience content is subject to human editorial review. AI-generated text is not treated as an authoritative medical source.

Independence and Conflicts of Interest

MedMaru aims to separate educational decisions from commercial influence. Relevant financial relationships, sponsorships, or other conflicts affecting a specific article will be disclosed.

Contact and Corrections

Readers may report factual errors, unclear explanations, or concerns about sources through the MedMaru contact page.
